My husband is looking for motivational tapes by Bob Richards. Bob
Richards was the "Vaulting Vicar" in his competitive days, the Rev.
Robert Eugene "Bob" Richards (born February 20, 1926, Champaign,
Ill.). He made three Olympic teams in two events. He competed in the
1948, 1952, and 1956 Summer Olympics as a pole vaulter, and also was a
decathlete in 1956. I really need to find where I can buy these
tapes!!!! My husband heard them when his high school track coach
played them (years ago). Please help. Thanks.

There's plenty of information about Bob Richards on the 'net, to be
sure, but I'm not turning up any motivational tapes. What I did find
was that Bob Richards today runs a horse ranch, which has a
considerable piece on Bob himself over here:

http://www.olympianranch.com/ranch.htm

Nothing there mentions tapes either, but if you'd like to contact Mr.
Richards, the phone number and email can be found on this page:

http://www.olympianranch.com/main.html

Nothing like going to the horse's mouth, so to speak, eh?

Also, Bob Richards' famous book, "The Heart of a Champion" is
currently out of print, but used copies can be bought for a very dear
price through Amazon over here:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0598062130/qid=1102851092/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/103-8987680-1839018?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

There is one audiobook available with a buy-it-now option on Ebay that
includes a chapter by Bob Richards - perhaps this has the motivational
stuff you're looking for, yet I cannot be sure this is the famed
motivational tape I keep reading about (and not finding!) all over the
net. I found the same thing in book form on Amazon, and it says that
it is published by the American Motivational Association in 1974. So,
perhaps this IS the old tape of renown...

The link to the audiobook on Ebay is over here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=378&item=2494776316&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V

The link to the paper book on Amazon is here:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006CA5GG/qid=1102853304/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/103-8987680-1839018?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

There was once a website called www.bobrichardsmotivation.com, but
it's a dead link now. Maybe it's just having temporary problems, I
dunno.

Best bet, I think, would be to contact the man directly!

Ya know what, I just rechecked that Ebay link, and though that book is
a good buy at $5, I just realized that it is NOT an audiobook. Oh,
well, that will teach me to read more carefully. ;-D
