Patent Number 5,885,111
Keystone jack for digital communication networks
?An improved modular jack, and more particularly to a keystone jack
for use on digital communication networks intends to effectively avoid
short circuits and the production of noise and crosstalk in signal
transmission. The jack is equipped with a wire mounting plate having
four receiving grooves on the top face and four on the bottom face
thereof some of which are crossly oriented at their ends so as to
permit 8 or more wire contact pieces to be mounted separately thereto
and crossly placed without contact at all. A retaining board is
integrally engaged with the top face of the wire mounting plate and
the combination is forced into a receiving recess of a jack housing
having a horizontal extension to support the bottom face of the wire
mounting plate so as to fix the 8 wire contact pieces respectively in
place. Then a wire limiting cap having a horizontally defined cable
insertion hole is engaged with the jack housing so as to permit a
cable to be vertically led into the jack with its 8 wires connected to
the horizontal wire contact pieces.?

Electrical connector having reduced cross-talk
Patent Number 5,454,738
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
?Efforts have recently been made to utilize conventional telephone
RJ45 jack and plug connectors for data transmission having higher
transmission frequencies than is required in voice transmission. The
performance criteria for such jack and plug connectors is governed by
the EIA/TIA standard TSB-40 (connecting hardware specification),
Category 5. One aspect of the Category 5 level in the standard is a
lower level of crosstalk coupling between adjacent contacts in the
electrical connectors. By way of example, a standard OMNI RJ45 jack
connector in commercial use by the assignee of the subject application
meets Category 3 of the crosstalk requirements per the TSB-40
performance requirements.?

United States Patent 6,106,328
Cable assembly for use with RJ45 jacks
?A Y-shaped connector cable assembly for use with three standard RJ45
telephone plugs includes eight wires connected to one plug. The eight
wires are divided into two groups of four wires and directed to each
of the other two plugs and connected to the respective operative pins
so as to allow two devices to receive and send signals over the single
cable assembly. ?

United States Patent 5,381,498
Modular multifiber connector with phone-like plug and socket
?A modular, multifiber connector comprising a plug and a receptacle
whose outward appearance and installation is similar to a convention
RJ45 jack for copper conductors. The plug includes a body having a
surface with several fiber-receiving grooves, and the plug fibers
terminate along an intermediate section of the grooves. The receptacle
includes a housing having an opening, and a plate which is slidably
mounted inside the housing. The plate is biased toward the opening and
has several more fiber-receiving grooves. The receptacle fibers
approach the plate at an oblique angle causing them to bend as they
contact the grooves of the plate. When the plug is inserted into the
opening, its forward end contacts the plate and pushes it back. As the
plate retracts, the terminal portions of the fibers in the receptacle
(which are not secured to the plate) become free to flex, and position
themselves in the corresponding grooves of the plug. Since the
receptacle fibers are still bent, they are positively biased toward
the plug fibers and move into forcible abutment with the terminal ends
of the plug fibers. The connector advantageously incorporates V-groove
technology into a multifiber format without requiring clamping of the
terminal portions of the fibers.?
