Running WinXP Media Center edition...tried to upgrade to SP2...install
process hangs (while installshield is running)...now I can't get any
program to install (via install shield)...they just hang and become
unresponsive in the middle of install

Hi macallan1962,

Three ideas -

1) Disable your antivirus program.

2) Make sure you are logged onto XP as Administrator

3) Make sure the RPC Locator is activated.
   Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services

4) Make sure the Workstation service is started.
   Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services
