Have you thought about using a PC to do this, using a product such as Snapstream's Beyond TV? http://www.snapstream.com/products/beyondtv/ |

I concur... I run an extra cable to my computer's TV card ($30) and can save to HD to get rid of commercials (or if I had a TV card that did hardware encoding ($80) I could use gbpvr (gbpvr.com) with comskip and mimick a replay tv auto commercial skip for free!) and then burn to DVD or I can burn direct. As far as 'legality': It falls under US 'fair use' laws (so far) http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/ DVD/Tivo combos: http://reviews.search.com/search?q=dvr%2Fdvd+combo&tag=srch&x=0&y=0 http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6463_7-6310152-1.html |

I own a HUMAX DRT-800 which has the function you are interested in. I have recorded PPV shows to view at a later time. |
