Greetings Arin, and thanks for your question.

I'm also shopping for a "quality pre-owned vehicle" - er, used car, so
I would be happy to point you to the resources that I have found
during my own search for enlightenment.

A good place to start for reviews on a car that is almost 10 years old
(I know, I'm driving one) is the Car Talk section of Cars.com. They
offer a car report that includes recall notices, customer complaints,
and safety bulletins for models going back to 1970. The 1993 VW Fox is
listed (just fill in the form to get the report) with lots of
information that will probably interest you.

Also helpful at Cars.com is the Survey Results section, where you can
find out the average repair costs for a particular make and model
(1993 VW Fox included).
http://cartalk.cars.com/Survey/Results/

ConsumerGuide has a report section for several used car models. The
report for a 1990-93 VW Fox is quite extensive.

The MSN CarPoint site also has a detailed report on the 1993 VW Fox,
complete with customer reviews.

Additional resources:

A comprehensive but more general used car buying resource is Consumer
Reports. The website has used car reviews, buying guides, and recall
notices, but they specialize more in late-model used cars. Purchasing
a subscription is required to view most of the content, but you can
get by with the free information if you don't want to shell out the
money right away. If you're still shopping for different makes and/or
models, this may be worth the investment.

Four VW Fox consumer reviews can be found at Epinions.com.

When you think you've narrowed your choices down to a few particular
cars, it may be a good idea before you buy to check them out using the
CarFax Lemon Check report service. Just enter the car's VIN number to
see if there is a report to purchase.

Once you own the VW of your dreams, there are several places you can
go to hang out with other VW owners. As the commercials say, VW owners
are obsessive about their cars. These owners offer lots of information
complete with the VW Fox history, photos, clubs and more.

I would recommend that you speak with a Joel Osserman owner of Select
Transportation in Waterloo NY. He is a VW guru and is the owner of
one of the largest off-lease and used, VW and Audi dealers in the
country. Contact information may be found on the Select
Transportation website http://www.selecttr.com

You may also want to register on http://forums.vwvortex.com

These forums are one of the best Volkswagen resources for information,
parts, etc...
