I would say Computer Generated Images and other IT SFX on the
production side; and DVDs on the distribution side.

I don't necessarily think that these changes are good or bad per se,
but certainly open up to debate. I'll enjoy a good movie no matter
what. Just a few thoughts:

*Increasing trend of product placement (e.g. Minority Report, last few
Bond movies, etc.).

*Increasing trend towards movies that hinge around a high-concept such
as a twist ending (practically all M. Night movies).

*Trilogy movies (Scream, American Pie, Blade, etc.) and/or attempts to
start a franchise. Some look as if they will succeed (Spiderman,
Jason Bourne franchise) and other attempts have certainly failed
(Incredible Hulk franchise, XXX).
