Hi,

I'm seeking information on the exercise technique that has to do with
Kinetics and what is it most suitable to achieve and are there DVD's
or tapes out there to teach someone how to exercise using those
techniques?

Thank you.

Dear Mao,

Almost every type of execise relies on Kinetics: human kinetics (also
known as biomechanics) is the science of the mechanics of living
organisms (like human beings), and it encompasses in fact all types of
exercises. All kind of dynamic workout methods (that is, moving) are
actually "kinetic" and encorporate kinetics, so if you're looking for
something that relies on kinetics - just pick what you'd like the
most.

Biomechanics (Human Kinetics)

However, there are several methods that use the term "kinetics" in
their name (or that try to boast of being "kinetic"):

EyeToy: Kinetic
===============
EyeToy:Kinetic is a Playstation2 game, in which one is trained by
their professional trainer, a 3D image.

This hasn't got a DVD, but a dynamic PlayStation scheme. You do the
exercise while playing your PS2.

This is the latest, and "hottest" thing, so this might be what you've
heard of. It is also the only one using kinetics in its name.

Pilates
=======
Several commercial providers of Pilates courses in the United States
use the term "Body Kinetics", which is also a name of one of the
institutes for Pilates instructors.

Pilates fits your description, of a method, where one can get the body
shaped (and become fit and healthier, naturally). Pilates basically
"focuses on the core postural muscles that help keep the body balanced
and are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular,
Pilates exercises teach awareness of neutral alignment of the spine
and strengthening the deep postural muscles that support this
alignment, which are important to help alleviate and prevent back
pain." (SOURCE: Wikipedia, PIlates,

"Kinetics" in rehabilitation workout
====================================
These two methods (or types of exercises), that also use the term
"kinetic" in their name, are "Aqua Kinetics - Water Recovery", which
is used for muscle reovery after workout; and the usage of "kinetic
chain exercises" , which is also used in rehabilitation.

Aquajogger - Deep Water Aqua Kinetics
<http://www.aquajogger.com/deep_water_aqua_kinetics.htm>

Regarding kinetic chain exercises:
"An open kinetic chain exercise is one where the foot is free to move
(i.e. knee extensions). A closed kinetic chain exercise is one where
the foot is in a fixed position and cannot move (i.e. a squat or leg
press). The foot must remain in constant contact with the surface.
During Kinetic chain exercises two types of forces exist, sheer and
compression." (SOURCE: Quadriceps,
