A few months back someone told me about a company that sold audio CDs
of college courses. For example, one set of CDs might be all the
lectures from an American History class; there'd be many CDs in the
set. (If you're familiar with The Mechanical Universe: I'm looking
for it's audio-only equivalent.)

I recall these things were kinda pricey (maybe a couple of hundred for
a set?), but I don't recall the publisher or title. Could you help
me? I'm looking for companies whence I can order these CDs, or
something very much like them. I've found sites where I can order
foreign language courses, but I'd like to find other topics
(especially history and science).

Hello.

I bet that you heard about The Teaching Company.

As indicated in a recent article in Science News, The Teaching Company
markets audio CDs (and DVDs) of college courses on virtually all
subjects. The courses are taught by top professors at some of
America's best universities. Articles about the company have appeared
in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. See Science News,
January 2004:
