Here's a mystery. There is a very often used quote: "Happiness is not
so much in having as sharing. We make a living by what we get, but we
make a life by what we give." by someone called Norman MacEwan
(sometimes spelled MacEwen). I cannot figure out who this guy is/was.
Looking for basic biographical info. My theory is that it's a gradual
bastardization, over time, of someone else's name. The quote is often
attributed to Churchill and M.L. King, but most often to our
mysterious friend Norman.

Funny question.

I can tell that MacEwan's name -- and several quotes -- show up in
sources at least as far back as 1961. They seem to often occur in a
Christian Science context, though not always.

But no one EVER says anything about who MacEwan was!

I'm still looking, but if nothing else turns up, how would you like
researchers to proceed on this?

If there's no answer, there's no answer...I don't know exactly how the
system works for these situations. Obviously, I don't have a problem
leaving the question open for others to try to solve.
