Where do last.fm and Pandora get their music samples from?  They don't
appear to use All Media Guide, Muze, or Loudeye like Amazon and other
major sites use (no standard Real/Windows Media formats).

belief it or not, the majority of sound samples from last.fm are
generated by one person sitting in a lonely room getting cd's from the
local library and ripping them. some samples are sent from labels
directly, but currently ripped stuff is by far the majority.
