I found the following information on a website linked to Harvard
Medical School some 2 or 3 years ago. I have since tried to obtain
further details but without success. I have contacted one of the
authors, I think Twiggs, but he was the statstical analzyer and was
unable to help me. I am looking to find out whatever happened to these
projects/papers, and/or have email contact details for the various
authors. In particular S. Ramakrishnan would interest me.

The following trials were carried at at Harvard
Medical School

Ghosh K., Wild R., Carson L.F., Twiggs L.B., and
Ramakrishnan S. Noscapine, a novel agent that induces
cytotoxicity and apoptosis in cervical cancer cells.
(Manuscript in Preparation)

Ghosh K., Wild R., Carson L.F., Twiggs L.B., and
Ramakrishnan S. Noscapine: a new drug with antitumor
activity in breast cancer. (Manuscript in
Preparation)"

Dear solars,

Although it proved impossible to find information on what became of
the project papers, my research has produced results that should be
useful. I am sure that I have successfully identified three of the
five authors, L. F. Carson, S. Ramakrishnan and L. B. Twiggs. Much to
my surprise, they are all members of the University of Minnesota
faculty, in the departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology respectively
of Pharmacology, where they concern themselves among other issues with
cancer research.

Noscapine is a compound that is still under pre-clinical investigation
for cancer therapy. Probably the original notice you found for these
manuscripts was a bulletiin board message. The following link
contains the orriginal information.
http://www.cancerconf.com/physicians/bulletin_board/messages/16.html

A simple search at the National Library of Medicines PubMed website,
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi , will give you the
latest publications on the subject. Any paper that is listed as
being in preparation should not be taken as vaporware. Though I
don't know what the Noscapine project was with the U Minn group, the
only Clinical Trial that I could find was run at the USC Norris Cancer
center looking at the effects on lymphoma.
http://ccnt.hsc.usc.edu/ClTrials/ViewProtocol.aspx?protocol_num=0C-99-16&protocol_id=1212
.

Though I don't know Scriptor-ga from the above reply I suspect he is
not a biomedical researcher and is just not familar with the field.
If you are specifically interested in the latest advances in clinical
treatement in the United States please check,

clinical trials being funded or monitored by the National Insitutes of
Health.
