Need to convert decimal format for lat/lon's into degrees, minutes and seconds. That is, I have latitudes like 37.138138 and longitude like -80.544823. I'd like them in a dd:mm:ss format. |

Hallo glscott! I think you are looking for a site like "Latitude, Longitude Format Conversion" ( http://www.geology.enr.state.nc.us/gis/latlon.html ). The Java applet there can convert from Decimal Degrees to Degrees, Minutes, and Seconds and the other way around. I hope this helps. If you require further assistance feel free to ask! voyager-ga Additional Resources: The Calculator Homepage (where you can find links to scientific calculators. Calc98 for example can do your conversions, too (on windows or linux (under wine)) http://www.calculator.org/ Search Strategy: latitude conversion ://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=latitude+conversion |

If you are after the mathematical equations to allow you to implement this yourself as opposed to using a Java applet embedded in a web page, you will find an explanation of the necessary algorithms at http://academic.brooklyn.cuny.edu/geology/leveson/core/linksa/decimalconvert.html Regards iaint-ga |
