I'm 19 years of age. Every once in a while (no more than once a week or so) I get this horrible feeling in my back; this horrible prickling sensation which is tremendously painful. It normally goes away after I sit down and rest my back on a chair, etc. I just had this happen today again. This may seem odd, but it normally happens right after I put on a shirt (ontop of my undershirt) when I'm dressing. It also seems like it happens a lot after I take a shower, and wait a while before I put more than 1 layer of clothing on. After it starts happening, it almost feels like I can control how much pain is put forth and how long it lasts. I'd like to see if this is a known problem with some people.. I tried searching google a little and can't find exactly what I'm experiencing. Thanks. |

I get a similar sensation if I'm embarassed\'hot and bothered'. I don't know if its the same thing. It's hard to describe. Mine is in the skin though. I'm about to turn 18 so similar age but you sound like yours is in the muscle or bones etc (feels like). Mine isn't painful, just kind of...weird, uncomfortable. |

Sounds like Prickley Heat to me. Prickley Heat is a reaction caused from sweat being trapped under the skin (from restricted sweat ducts) and causing a reaction. Most people sweat as they dress after having a warm/hot shower (or when stressed!). The most common areas to get it are on the torso (commonly between the shoulder blades) or even on the thighs. Unfortunetley, there's not much you can do. Drs may suggest calamine(if you like the painted look) or using pinetarsal instead of soap. Or maybe even corticosteroid lotions. Try to dress lightly and stay cool! Take cooler showers. |
