Question ID: 439214
i somehow got a download on my computer called movieland, they have a
reminder notice that comes up and tells me that i owe them 100.00
dollars. Can they do this or is there a way to get htis off my
computer? I never gave them a card or any type of payment. I was under
the understanding that I didnt have to worry about any thing untill i
gave them a card. Can you help a dummy who downloaded the wrong thing?

Dear link62-ga

Thank you for allowing me to answer your interesting question.
?Movieland? seems to be getting some ugly press lately from people
like yourself who want to know how to remove the thing from their
computer. Wyoming Internet service provider Visionary Communications
has a detailed series of instructions for getting rid of the Movieland
pop-ups.

Here is a ?techie? discussion about how to rid your computer of this
allegedly annoying nag. Depending on the type of computer you have the
operating system you are using it may require you to tinker
(cautiously) with the registry [ Note: you might want to get
professional assistance with this if you are not familiar with
registry manipulation ]:

A company called SOFTWARE VICTORIA has a free download that is also

Be aware that AFTER you do the "free download" and install of the
software from softwarevictoria.com AND run the scan, you will be asked
for $29.95 to actually do the remove. THIS IS A SCAM!
