We have a burr-type coffee grinder which sits on a ceramic tile countertop with ceramic tile backsplash. When we grind coffee the grounds pick up a charge. When we open the grinder to pour out the grounds, coffee flies everywhere, adhering to the tile. A mess. Is there an easy way to remove the static charge from the coffee to avoid this? |

i am not exactly sure, it is an intresting problem but i can provide you with some informion, if i knew exactly what the probolem is i could help you more, exactly when do the grounds fly out? is it as you open the lid of the grounder or is it when u begin to pour? im not sure and dont have time to research but i think that if u can runing a peace of string or wire from the inside of teh container to the floor(ground) it would remove the charge, 2 other simple soulutions are to move your grinder or to by a compleatly diffrent tool. http://www.sciencemadesimple.com/static.html is a good site if you are just curios about why it would happen. other wise moving your tool would grinder would proboly solve the problem. a grind and brew style coffe maker is great appliance (from personal experience only) and if you are a real coffe lover buying one could be nice. when i did a ebay search on them i found an inbox 24 cup programable grind and brew cofee maker for only 25 dollors plus 15 dollors shiping. looking there might be a posiblilty |

That?s air conditioning for you. If you grind the coffee just prior to using it, add a little water. OK it?ll make a bit of a mess but probably less than the one you get. Sulphuric acid would be far more effective of course but I?m sure there is a reason why this wouldn?t be a good idea. Best |

I have had the same problem with my previous grinder. Not only was it really loud, the grinds went everywhere too. the solution was to replace the grinder. I suggest you window shop at www.coffegeek.com. The reviews are pretty good and are searchable by machine type. |

I have had the same problem. Here are a few steps I took that helped: 1. Don't fill up the grinder all the way. 2. Don't over grind -- the smaller the particles, the worse the problem. 3. Hold the grinder over the sink when removing the lid. 4. Place the grinder far into a gallon size ziploc bag before dumping out the grounds. It's still not perfect, but I'd say this has reduced the mess I had by 90%. |
