I have solid data on US migration patterns between MSAs and also
between MSAs and non-US locations. Unfortunately, my internal
research customer is requesting we get this information broken down
one step further, i.e., to reason for move for each of these
migrations. Fortunately, the only criteria my internal customer is
interested in is "moving for work" vs. "other"--but I need it
granularly, i.e., I need to know how many people are moving to/from
each major (top 100) MSA for work.

Since I have both net and inbound and outbound overall migration
numbers, either percentages of these numbers that are "for work" or
new raw numbers themselves will be useful.

Thanks!

Hello logicalboyla-ga,

This is definitely a tough one. There is a tremendous amount of
related information available and the source files from the US Census
Bureau might be useful but it?s very difficult to find reports where
the data have been massaged exactly as you need it.

Here are some resources that I?ve found but they don?t give you the
MSA level statistics you need. Let me know if you can use them to
point to some new directions for continuing this search. Thanks.

No, none of these seem to have what I need.

Bobby-ga seems to have inadvertently pointed me in the right direction
under another question with this census DVD, which I think may have
the info I need for this and another question.
