I'm looking to buy a very complete kit for Telephone/Cable installation and one of the tools it lists as coming with it was a "can wrench." I'm trying to decide if I want to buy the kit or the tools individually, but since I don't know what this is, I have no idea if I need it. If someone could explain its use and/or other tools that are similar (if there is another tool that may not be as easy to use, but that would do the job) I would really appreciate it. Thanks. |

Dear _erin_-ga; Thank you for allowing me to answer your interesting question. A ?can wrench? is a deep socket tool that is most frequently used to remove the nuts to open those telephone panels you see sticking out of the ground or those mounted on walls of some businesses. They sometimes have sockets on each end that differ in size to accommodate two different size nuts. Some of them come with a special security insert to allow the tool to access panels that have tamper-proof nuts on them. JENSEN TOOLS http://www.jensentools.com/product/group.asp?parent_id=420773 Some can wrenches are sort of multipurpose tools and come complete with an added wire-stripping feature so you can quickly and conveniently remove insulation from telephone lines with a single tool. JENSEN TOOLS http://www.jensentools.com/product/group.asp?parent_id=8640 Here are many, many more examples of can wrenches. They are all pretty much the same, but you can select them and see what each of them are capable of doing: FROOGLE http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=%22can%20wrench%22&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&sa=N&tab=wf I hope you find that my research exceeds your expectations.
