I'd like to be able to e-mail graphic images to my MMS capable phone.
I can already email 160 character text messages via SMS by emailing to
XXXXXXXXXXXXX@mmode.com. I imagine that I could sign up for the
phone's data plan and download the images, but MMS has the advantage
that incoming messages are free.
So what do I need to do to email (or otherwise post from my computer)
an image via MMS? |

Which cell phone model have you? , probably there is an available USB
cable for your phone to connect it to the computer and download images
to your phone from the PC.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I'd like to e-mail images on
demand from a server at home. I'll send a SMS-email to the server and
it will mail back an image I request, ultimately. Right now, I just
need information on how to send an image to the cell phone.
I have a Nokia 6820 on Cingular in the mid-west of the US.

Hi!!
I found some info for sending messages via e-mail to Cingular phones:
For e-mailing just text: your_cingular_number@mobile.mycingular.com
For MMS (graphics): your_cingular_number@mms.mycingular.com
Check these options also:
your_cingular_number@cingularme.com
JPG and GIF attachments will work when emailing but make sure the
resolution fits your screen.
Note that you have to register with multimedia messaging through
cingular.com for that email to work. Registration used to be free
nowadays appears to be paid, you just have to sign up authorizing mms
messages to be sent to your phone. I think that this depends on your
contracted service plan. See:
http://www.cingular.com/media/multimedia_messaging
Let me know if this helps you.

How did you find that e-mail address? I didn't see it in the FAQ on
the Cingular site.
The only problem I see now is that I'm actually a former AT&T
customer. I'll have to experiment to see if the same thing works with
mmode... I found the "former AT&T" website where it talks about
picture messaging, but nothing on it (that I've found) says anything
about sending from an outside e-mail address to the AT&T phone.
It might be possible to change my phone over to a Cingular plan... I'm
not quite sure why this wasn't done for everyone automatically...

Nope, mms.mmode.com doesn't work. For grins, I tried the
mms.mycingular.com and mobile.mycingular.com without success. I
couldn't find a box to check to enable picture messaging on the
"formerly AT&T" part of the cingular website...
