Question ID: 439636
how do I copy my boot drive to a newly installed Raid 0 striped drive
so that my computer will boot from the RAID drive? I want to copy the
existing C drive of the computer with Microsoft XP Professional to the
new Raid hard drives. When I copy the C drive with Norton Utilities
Ghost to the RAID drive it does not boot from the RAID drive because
the channel for the RAID drive is different on the motherboard and
somehow the operating system knows this. Where in the registry is the
"channel" information stored and what else do I have to change for the
comptuer to boot from the ghost image on the RAID drive?

if you boot drive is running win98, it may be good to have a try, but
xp may not work. as win2k , xp will detect for the whole hardware
configuration, in case xp detect for a slight different in hardware
config. it will not pass the start-up and show you a blue or black
screen.

raid card level:
despite you can clone the disk image to the raid drive.
there are still a conditon that, you origianl raid drive should have a
location to store the raid 0 setting. when you use a xp disk to clone
to the raid drive.
the raid card will not detect it as normal. you have to re-tune the
raid card setting, may be change from using strip to other mode.

Thank you Water. At this time Microsoft and you agree that it cannot
be done. I appreciate your attention.
