I'll guess 4 years for Dade, and 40 years for Duval, Clay and St. Johns counties, which are in North-East Florida. North-East Florida had about a million trees fail, mostly because the trees had not been stressed in 40 years, by two hurricanes that missed us by about 200 miles in 2004. There may be considerable variety of opinion in what the word "strikes" means. A tall tree in our yard is leaning about 7 degrees, like the tower of Pizza as a result of the two near misses. I've been planting grass and dirt on the exposed roots, in hopes it will not fall this decade. Neil |
