My daughter is severely allergic to both gluten and corn.  I am trying
to find out if two prescription medications contain gluten and or
corn.  (The inactive ingredients are the area of concern.)
The medications are fluconazole and nystatin.  We are interested in
the capsule or tablet form of these medications, NOT POWDERS or
SUSPENSIONS.  Both are available in generic forms from different
manufacturers.  I have contacted the manufacturers and received a list
of inactive ingredients from one.
I cannot understand if the ingredients listed might contain gluten or
corn and neither can two pharmacists I have contacted. Here is the
information off one drug insert. The inactive ingredients include;
microcrystalline cellulose,dibasic calcium phosphate anhydrous,
povidone croscarmellose sodium, FD&C Red No.40 Aluminum Lake dye, and
magnesium stearate.
Can you help me find a brand of fluconazole and nystatin, in capsule
or tablet form, that does not contain gluten or corn?

Generic versions usually have different fillers than the brand drugs,
so I wouldn't go for a generic, unless you have a list of fillers for
it.

Try products made with SPELT flour. And check the ingredients of every
product off the shelves. you would be amazed at hour many contain
wheat/gluten flour. This is the cause of your problems.
