This small oil painting (12'W x 24'H) displays an autumn scene in
autumn colors. A creek winds from the lower right, where the
signature is located, to the center-middle of the painting. This
creek empties into what appears to be a large mountain lake (could be
a wide river but I think a lake). A large, craggy mountain dusted
with snow (no snow cap) is in the middle background. Mountain is
slightly offset to the right side of painting. Tall trees line the
creek banks in the foreground along the left bank of the creek. A
church with a tall white steeple, with a dark brown roof on the
steeple, sits on the right bank of the creek about mid-way up the
creek from the bottom of the painting to where the creek empties into
the lake. I know this painting is over 80 years old. That is all I
know about it. This painting is singed, bottom right, in the creek
water, with narrow red ink, or maybe it is in narrow red oil paint.
The signature merely sates, "Rosenbach." This signature has a capitol
R followed by lowercase letters. There is no break between Rose and
bach. The signature is in script, it is not printed. |
