"tdut.exe" , and "tmao.exe" appear among files on my computer. Neither
shoe properties attributable to companies (such as Microsoft), and
neither show up as virus names on McAfee. They also found their way to
my registry of start-up list programs. Any idea what they are? |

"shoe" mispelled--should be "show"

Hi, 313colonial-ga:
It seems like a very reasonable cause for concern.
A virus scanner like McAfee's in only part of the protection you need.
Have you run a spyware/adware like Spybot S&D or Lavasoft's Adaware?
Well maintained programs of this sort are needed above and beyond
virus checking and firewalls.
It's a sad commentary on modern life, but too many hackers find the
Internet public a lucrative and easy target.

Yes, I have scanned with AdAware.
I'm not even sure that these files aren't part of legitimate programs,
except for the fact that one would expect "properties" to identify
such programs or their parent company.

What directory did these files appear in, what are the dates and
sizes, and what related items are shown in connection with them in the
Windows Registry? (I can help with instructions for how to find this
information if needed.)
