Do you want to cover all sides of the stick of butter or just the top?

one fry (if you smush it up real good)
Bajillions of fries (if you smush the stick of butter real good)

The stick of Butter can be said to have a normal (standard) shape,
the french fries dont have such a standard. If you give me the fries
dimension I can give you the answer (what about curly fries?). It
also matters if you need them to tile perfectly or not. do you want a
hermetic seal of deep fried potatos, a shell that wont allow you to
see any butter or as long as the butter is covered it's all good.
And, yes, are the fries hot or cold? If they can melt the butter that
changes EVERYTHING!
