United "canceled" its previous shares today, as the "new" stock began
trading. Old shareholders can use the old shares for placemats or
***-wiping. LOL

Unfortunately I happen to be a stockholder of the old shares of UALAQ,
I had 263 shares (not alot), but enough to make me really mad because
I had no idea that once they exited bankruptcy protection that they
would trade under a different symbol, which in turn causes the old to
become null and void. Thanks United! Not only did they take my dads
life in 1989 in Sioux City, IA, now they have also "taken" me.

this won't get you any money back but maybe it will ease your anger
over being taken. you weren't taken. you were a partial owner in a
business that failed. no different than if you opened a sandwich shop
and couldn't sell any sandwiches. to be sure in the sandwich shop you
were the majority owner in a very small business and in united you
were a very small owner in a large business but beyond that it is
exactly the same. you chose to own a piece of a business, i assume,
because you thought it would prosper and you would benefit. it didn't
and subsequently neither did you. that isn't fraud and you weren't
taken. it's just business.

the change of exchange or symbol wasn't the cause of your loss either.
your loss was sustained simply and solely by the failure of the
enterprise. companies can and do change both exchanges and symbols
without any effect on the ongoing enterprise at will. i would also
suggest in the form of a small chastisment that when managing your
assets, "i had no idea" is a poor operating position. in the future,
if you don't know, consult someone who does and do it when you still
have some decision making capacity. closing the barn door after the
horse leaves has proven itself less effective.
