Question ID: 440475
A romantic comedy I saw on TV approx. 15 years ago: A girl meets a guy
who is actually a ghost. Both characters are either in late teens or
early twenties. They fall in love and near the end of the movie the
male ghost disappears. At the end, the girl goes to a hospital and
meets the actual guy, possibly in a wheelchair. I think he was in a
coma during the time he appeared as a ghost in front of the girl. One
particular scene(s) I remember was once on the bus and once where they
were indoors and the girl closed the door so that she could change but
the guy (joking, I think) told her that he could see through things.
Sorry that my memory is not so good and cannot give more details
regarding the story! What is the title of this movie and how may I
obtain a copy? Thanks!

Hi bluesky89,

I believe the movie you are looking for is called "Somewhere Tomorrow"
with Sarah Jessica Parker.

From the Internet Movie Database:
"Young Lori Anderson lost her father in a plane crash. While her
mother appears to be picking up the pieces of her life, Lori isn't.
She is resentful of every decision that her mother makes from selling
the family horse farm to a relationship with the local sherrif. Lori
doesn't know what to do and turns to her father's journals filled with
psychology and metaphysics for answers. One day, a client coming to
see about the boarding of his horse, crashes in a plane with his best
friend. The friend manages to escape tragedy, but the client, Terry
Stockton, dies in the accident. However, Lori can see and actually
touch the supposedly dead Terry after she finds him in the woods.
After some struggle, Lori comes to believe that she is meant to help
Terry. With the aid of her father's journals and Terry's best friend,
they try to find out why Terry's spirit hasn't crossed over. A
complication then develops in the situation when Lori and Terry begin
to fall for each other. Lori has a riding accident and tries to join
Terry in the afterlife. It is then that the reason why Terry had
trouble passing on, and the secrets of her father's journals are
revealed."

A user's comment:

"Lori's mother wants to marry Alex, a police officer, after her father
dies, and Lori is not happy about the idea.

When the movie opens, Alex is using his lights and sirens to rush to
the hospital, where Lori is in a coma.

Later, Lori has made a miraculous recovery and is watching the movie
'Topper'. Obviously, the event that put her in the hospital hasn't
happened.

Paul and Terry go up in a plane which is having problems that they
decide to ignore. While riding her horse, Lori witnesses their plane
crashing and decides to go for help. She hits her head, but she seems
fine, and when she sees him again, Terry is in remarkably good shape
considering everything. They go to the hospital to see Paul, but
people ignore Terry. Later we find out why: Lori and Terry both see
Terry's father identify Terry's body. Lori realizes Terry must be a
ghost, but no one believes she can see him, blaming her visions on
being hit in the head.

The best scenes have Lori and Terry together. As the movie progresses,
there is more comedy, particularly when Paul gets involved. Lori,
Terry and Paul are all quite likeable, and the actor playing Paul's
father does a good job. I didn't care for Lori's mother or Alex.

After Terry 'leaves' Lori wants to commit suicide and reunite with
him. She dies briefly in the hospital and sees him again. She doesn't
want her to leave, but he persuades her to return to life. There is a
happy ending because she imagined everything after hitting her head.
Terry never died."

This entry from Movie Mistakes is what confirmed to me (where a bus is
mentioned) that this is the movie you are looking for:
Question: I remember seeing a movie in the summer of 1985 (probably
June)on HBO. What I remember about the movie is two guys are in a
private plane and they crash and are presumably dead. Then one of the
guys is a ghost and only one girl can see him. I believe they meet on
a bus. The "ghost" accompanies his mother to identify his body. In the
end, it turns out that the girl who can see the "ghost" was also in an
accident, either a car wreck or thrown from a horse.and they were both
in the same hospital, both unconscious. Does anyone know the title of
this movie? [Somewhere Tomorrow with Sarah Jessica Parker.]
