Dear MsRusty, There are some home remedies mentioned. However, I'd encourage you to talk with a physician and not just use "home remedies" for a serious problem such as kidney infections. Kidney infections are a serious condition and require immediate medical treatment. I have heard that cranberry juice is good for all types of urinary ailments, but I've never needed to try it. I would also recommend seeing an MD. |

Cranberry juice only works for minor bladder infections, and only for some people. Please see a doctor if you think you may have a kidney infection. It's very serious and could cause your kidneys to fail. You don't want that! Your kidneys are something you don't want to mess around with. Good news, a short course of antibiotics will get rid of it in short order. If you have pain in your lower back along with burning urination, see a doc NOW! The emergency room is not innapropriate in this case. |

Home remedy and other supplementation food can only make an acidic urine (most of us are acidic!) alkaline. When we have bladder inflammation, acidic urine will create irritation which gave rise to frequent urination and burning sensation at our urethra. So as you can imagine, make urine alkaline can minimise the 'symptoms' but NOT killing the bacteria. In that respect, i would recommend all to visit a physician or an MD for treatment. Kidney infection usually occurred after the infection has gone up from bladder to the kidney, which means it has deteriorated. It causes Pyelonephritis and potentially ruin the whole kidney. Worst still, it can cause sepsis and potentiallly fatal. |
