Universities in the United States?  Put another way: how many graduate
and undergraduate degrees are granted annually in the US?

According to the US Department of Education's Digest of Education Statistics:


http://nces.ed.gov/programs/digest/d04/tables/dt04_247.asp


for the 2004-2005 academic year, the following numbers of degrees were awarded:


668,000  Associate's degrees

1,416,000  Bachelor's degrees

562,000  Master's degrees

85,000  First-professional degrees

47,200  Doctor's degrees


Total degrees conferred -- 2,778,200
