This is a complete set, volumes 1-7 of leather bound books in fair
condition. The books were published by the Encyclopedia Publishing
Company in 1897 under the supervision of John Clark Ridpath, L.L.D.

Hi Rantas,

Well... this was an interesting search to say the least. I've
contacted a friend of mine who deals in old books, and I made several
phone calls within my city to stores that deal in old/rare books.
This is what I've found for you.

I'm sorry to say, they basically have no market value to a collector,
however if you found an individual that was interested - you might be
able to sell them.

Believe it or not, these books are not considered "old" - because
anything published after 1800 - in the business of books would be of
little value.

If, for example these were Brittanica, published in 1790 - First
Edition - in excellent condition, then they could be worth several
hundred to thousands of dollars.

Perhaps you might place an ad for them, finding an individual who was
interested in buying them from you.

Good Luck to you,

Search for the title at http://bookfinder.com and you will get dozens
of listings, covering a variety of years, but unfortunately not
specifically 1897 - however browsing the other years should give you a
rough guide of what price this encyclopedia is being offered for
online.

Hi again,

I've received an email from a friend of mine who owns a bookstore.
Here is what he said:

"I wouldn't say they have no value. Leather in good condition ought to
draw $25 per book or so."

Hope this helps,

tlspiegel-ga
