I'd like to identify a list of incidents that follow the same pattern
as the fallout from the recent question posed to Donald Rumsfeld, by a
soldier in Kuwait, about the lack of armor for vehicles in Iraq. The
response of the administration indicates they felt it was imperitive
to address the issue immediately. The president spoke to it. The
Pentagon explained what they're doing, and set in motion additional
activity like the special commission on armour.

I've noticed this a few times before in the past 5 years. Certain
attacks seem to generate a quicker and more thorough response from the
White House. They have usually been successful in countering those
attacks. Another one I remember from the campaign was when Colin
Powell made a comment about the insurgents winning in Iraq sometime
near the end of the October. The White House response to that was
very fast and unambiguous. Powell ate his words.

I'm looking for a list of events along with approximate dates so I can
more effectively research this phenomenon and see if I can identify
any additional patterns.
