I own an eMac (2nd generation, I think) and a 12 inch iBook G3 700 mhz. The eMac is connected to DSL and the iBook has an Airport card receiving a signal from a wireless router. I am so fed up with my DSL service provider, that I am investigating WiFi Broadband service from my cell phone provider (Verizon). I am having some trouble getting all the details to make a decision as to whether this is even feasible. Verizon says they have 2 cards/software that are Mac compatible. From what I understand, PC cards will not fit in the slot in my iBook. I am not sure about the eMac. So I have determined that I could use a USB adapter for the card. But I have gathered that this is only worth doing if you have USB 2. So my question is can I use a USB adapter for the card? In which computer? Can I share the connection without buying more than one card? And lastly, is there a speed issue caused by all of this?...My location (SC) does not have Verizon's fast Broadband WiFi yet, but will within a year. |
