Almost without fail, when I eat chicken meat, it tends to 'lodge' in
my throat and I need water to clear it. It causes me to choke and then
hurts as it travels downward once I drink the water. I believe I chew
it well (25-30 chews before swallowing). The doctors have no
explanation and obviously say 'don't eat chicken.' I had an MRI scan,
did the GI 'thing' and no problem was found. I want to understand the
'why.'

Does it also happen with chicken soup? If so, it would seem to be a
reaction to some chemical in the chicken.

How about really, really soft forms of chicken meat, like McDonald's
chicken tenders, or the super-thin chicken strips in some Chinese
dishes. Do you react to these as well?

It does not happen with chicken soup. Generally, it is broiled,
baked, or rarely, yet fried at times. The size of chicken bites I cut
would be smaller than the nuggets (which I have never eaten)and I will
need to try the strips like in some type of stir fry.

It might help to have a cine esophogram with speech pathology to look
dynamically at your swallowing.
