I am looking for one of the Chinese manufacturers of plastic (Acrylic,
PMMA, polycarbonate, etc) lenses who can sell me a 5 inch magnifier
lens in quantity at a low cost. I know this factory exists, but I
cannot find them. The item may not be available as a retail product. I
know this factory exists because the lens is for sale in 2 finished
products that are stamped "made in China" (see below).
This type of lens is used for magnifing glass, and in magnifying table
lamps. A slightly smaller lens from a Korean manufacturer - 114 mm -
sells for for US$1.68/per. I am looking for a price below US$4.00 per
unit.
On example of this lens is in the Ultra-optix 5 inch magnifier:
http://www.ultraoptix.com/Pages/suprvision.html
the other is the Bauch & Lomb 5 inch magnifier:
http://www.bausch.com/us/resource/visioncare/va/magnifiers/round_rec.jsp
A similar but perhaps lower quality lens is also used here:
http://www.magnifierplace.com/magstore/index.html?loadfile=catalog14_0.html
but it lacks the bifocal inset.
I need to buy the lenses (only lenses, not magnifier with handle) in
quantity of 1000. I will pay for the contact information with a
factory that can sell me a high quality 5 inch/133mm plastic lens with
bifocal insert for less than US$4.00 per unit in a quantity of 1000. |

Hi!
I think here are some issues about your question...
a.) It seems that information on the specific Chinese manufacturer on
these brand of magnifying lens is hard to come by.
b.) Usually the issues of quality, price per glass and number of
glasses ordered are all done through negotiations. Manufacturers
usually do not pin a specific price per contract since everyclient has
distinct needs and requirements.
c.) Usually the magnifying glass I saw have handles an are smaller in diameter.
PROPOSED SOLUTION:
I was able to locate custom magnifying glass manufacturers in China.
You can specify the things you need with these manufacturers. I can
supply you with their contact info but you will be the one to
negotiate with them individually.
Is this solution ok with you as an answer?
Thanks!

I have been in contact with custom manufacturers, and the setup charge
to make a lens mold is too high (thousands$$). That's why I'm willing
to pay for the factory that already has the mold for the lens made -
to avoid this charge.
As for issues of price, quality and quantity, I set limits in my
question to avoid an unworkable.
My price maximum is more than double that of a lens that is 15%
smaller, so it is well above the market rate. The quality I want is
equal to the Ultra-Optix and Bausch & Lomb lenses ? just not inferior.
And if they can?t sell in wholesale quantities, I?m not interested!
Now, if you find the manufacturer of one of these lenses, we are in
business. Thanks for trying either way.

Diameter too small, but close on the first link. I want 133mm, but 127
to 138 might be ok, any less definitly no. The second link is
sunglasses so no there also. Thanks for looking.
