I am looking for several sources of Market Research reports for the
vertical market of Wireless Broadband for the Public Safety market.
The reports can be either free or have an additional price to
download. A plus would be any reports that have information about the
new Public Safety 4.9 GHz spectrum market.

Hello mdoble-ga,

Nice to see you back here again.

I've been working on your question, and I've found a number of recent
reports that relate pretty well to your general topic. However, there
doesn't seem to be a heck of a lot of new information on 4.9 GHz
applications, and what is there is not as detailed as typical market
studies.

For instance, there's this well-targeted, recent report:

4.9 GHz: A Major Force Behind Meshing Network Adoption
August 30, 2004

Building on the strength and popularity of Wi-Fi, meshing networks
extend range, security, and redundancy by augmenting traditional
infrastructure-to-user communications with enhanced peer-to-peer
communications. This is accomplished through an advanced addressing
scheme that better handles ad hoc communications and handoffs. Issues
currently plaguing meshing networks include interference, proprietary
addressing and security, and very high deployment costs. The use of
4.9 GHz, spectrum recently reallocated by the FCC for "public safety"
applications, can at least alleviate the issues of interference from
existing Wi-Fi networks in the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz spectrum. Is the
elimination of this obstacle alone enough to drive acceptance?...

...and so on.

The report provides a good overview of market forces, but doesn't
provide a great deal of numerical data or major-players type of info.

Beyond that, there is a recent market report on public safety wireless
that sells for over $1,000. Are these types of reports of interest to
you?

And beyond that, there are innumberable marekt research reports on all
aspects of wireless development in general. Some of them -- like
reports on mobile broadband -- are likely to be more germane to your
interests than others.

Do these sources sound to like I'm on the right track?

Any feedback you can provide would be a good help in focusing my
research to best meet your needs.

Thanks.

I am looking for the typical Market Research report that provides
expected market growth and revenues figures. I want the reports to
come from a reputable Market Research firm. I am inerested in the
free summary reports/press release reports and the reports that sell
for over a $1,000. I would prefere a report around the $500-1,000
range. Please provide today the report you found for over a $1,000
and I will let you know if this is on the right track. I am only
interested in reports that cover Public Safety Wireless Broadband (ie
Wi-Fi, 802.11, 4.9 GHz). I not interested in Wireless Cellular. I
would also like a report the provides market growth and revenues
figures on the 4.9 GHz Public Safety Spectrum market. Some of the
companies selling in this marketing are Cisco, Proxim, Motorola, Mesh
Networks, Alvarion, Tropos Networks, Nortel Networks.

Have a look at this one, priced at $1,295, and let me know what you think:

The Wireless communications for public order: targeting government with
wireless WAN and LAN solutions report is not the type of report I am
looking for. I am looking for a report that focuses on Public Safety.

OK, I'll keep looking. Here's a recent article that seems quite
on-point (and includes some numbers on the size of wireless PS
market), but no actual market reports, yet:

Stay tuned...

The article is on-point. This is the market I looking for some
numbers on. Now you just need to find a report on this market from a
Market research company that will support MeshNetworks estimate of
$500 M to $1 B.

If possible I need the report by Monday.

mdoble-ga,

I just wanted to let you know that I have some queries out on this,
but now that it's past business hours, I doubt I'll hear anything back
today, so I'm afraid Monday will have come and gone before I find out
anything.

I'll keep you posted though...

Hi pafalafa-ga

Any luck finding any research reports. I would also be interested in
any articles like the one you found that have a Public Safety Wireless
Broadband market forecast.

Thanks for your help,

Mike

Sorry, Mike, nothing new to report.

I've been concentrating on market research reports, but it really
doesn't look like any are out there.

I'll look around for more articles, though, and let you know if anything turns up.

Have a wonderful holiday season.

By the way, I've been assuming all along that you're aware of
individual contract activity, such as the circa $1 billion contract
awarded by NYC to build a public safety wireless network.

While not market data per se, it certainly gives one a sense of the
scope of the potential out there.

Let me know if my assumption is incorrect, and if information such as
this would be of use to you.

Thanks.

Yes I do know about NYC project. I would be interested about other
projects in Public Safety. Have you giving up on finding a Public
Safety Marketing report. Do you see any reports that cover a wider
scope, ie: Municipal Wireless Networks.

Hello again.

I haven't given up on the market studies, but I haven't found any
others, either. I'll broaden the scope a bit, and see what turns up.

In the mean time, can you have a second look at the link I provided earlier:

http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/227405/

I don't understand why you consider this not relevant to your
question...perhaps by learning a bit more about why it doesn't work
for you, I can better focus on the ones that will work.

Thanks...and a great holiday!

I took a second look at the report and it is relevant in the wider
scope of Municipal Wireless Networks. It does not cover the Public
Safety area I am looking for, but I am also intersted in reports like
this that cover a larger scope of Municipal Wireless Networks.
