What is this instrumental jazz tune, recorded live in the 1960's in a club? The band had bass, drums, piano, clarinet, and horns. Players soloed with a bass vamp. Each note name is followed by its note value. 8 = eighth note, 4 = quarter note. | = bar line _ = tied note . = dotted note These are notes, not chords. The key of the tune in the notation below is A minor, but the key of the actual recording might be different. It's in 4/4 time, tempo about 140 bpm. Here is the bass vamp: A8 C4 D4 B4 G8_ | _G8 A4. rest rest | A8 C4 D4 G4 E8_ | _E4 rest rest rest | A8 C4 D4 B4 G8_ | _G8 A4. rest rest | A8 C4 B4 Bb4 A8_ |_A rest rest rest | I can email an MP3 file of the tune's melody if you wish. Thanks very much, brubart | |

Try asking in the newsgroup rec.music.bluenote, which is devoted to the discussion of jazz. You can also find jazz fans talking at these two links: http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/ http://jazzcornertalk.com/speakeasy/index.php If you cast a wide net, someone might recognize your MP3. Good luck. |
