What agent can I use to get the smell of smoke out of my car?
I need a tried and true recipe please.

Vanilla scented night lights are very good at sorting out tobacco odours in rooms.

I would be very careful using one in a car, very careful indeed.

In Europe people used to use an orange scented aircleaner, often
hanging from the rear view mirror, I've not seen those for some time.

Did you try Fabreeze? I used it in an apartment we had rented to
smokers and it worked very very well. This is one product that
performed as advertised. Might ahve to use a lot of it, especially on
the ceiling as smoke rises.
