Name of a song and band in the 80's. Male singer with a slight English
accent, in a kind of a drone. The lyrics are about a jaded family, and
has the following words in the chorus

"... and all I wanted was you to come and play with me..."

Not much to go on, I know. Big thanks to who ever can help me out with
this. Been trying to figure this out for a long time.

Hello.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the song was "Play
With Me" by Bootsauce.

A newsgroup post archived by Google Groups credits Bootsauce with the
lyrics that you mention:

'"And all I wanted was you to come play with me......
Maybe tomorrow....."

I have not been able to locate complete lyrics for the song, but
another newsgroup post quotes some additional lyrics from "Play With
Me" by Bootsauce:

" The devil's in the bathroom, counting out his money;
   While I was in the bedroom, land of milk and honey.
   Babies play in sandbox land, quite the sight to see;
   Nubiles on the roof tops, binoculars for free."

These lyrics do not seem inconsistent with your description of the
song being "about a jaded family."

"Play With Me" is the 6th track on "The Brown Album" by Bootsauce.

google groups: "and all I wanted was you" "play with me"

I hope "Play With Me" by Bootsauce is the right song. If you have any
reason to believe that it's not your song, please let me know via the
"request clarification" feature. Thanks.
