Who sells software that runs the backend to ratemyface.com, amihot.com
etc? What I need it to do is be based on
php, allows the uploading of photos etc, and have the ability to rate
them accordingly. Also giving the users a login option etc would be
good. I remember some software which was sold in a bronze, silver and
gold edition, however I forget the website or the name.

Additionally, I will be after some decent hosting which allows
intensive CPU usage (which can run this rating software). I've looked
at 1&1, and they seem decent. However, I'm afraid of the bandwidth
usage etc. Would it be possible to find out how much bandwidth some of
the more popular sites use, as well as their CPU load? And can you
please check the TOS' of the web hosts to find any problems with a
high load service?

Please give pricing of all.

Not too sure, but when I was browsing www.hotscripts.com a while ago,
I'm pretty sure I came across some free photo rate scripts. Now, given
that they are free I can't comment on the quality of them (although in
the programming world, many of the best scripts, i.e. 4images, phpBB,
coranto, etc. are free), but definitly check that out.

I think you're thinking of I-RATER, there are Basic
(http://www.i-rater.com/basic.php), Pro
(http://www.i-rater.com/pro.php) and Platinum
(http://www.i-rater.com/platinum.php) options that you can choose
from. I-RATER Basic is $37, I-RATER Pro is $47, and I-RATER Platinum
costs $97. They also offer an I-RATER Bundle option
(http://www.i-rater.com/bundle.php) which includes I-RATER Basic, Pro,
and Platinum, template packs, stock photos and they can also customize
it and install it for you. The Bundle option costs $127.

I always recommend Rackspace as a good hosting provider
(http://www.rackspace.com) They specialize in dedicated hosting and
also provide managed hosting services, so you don't need to be too
knowledgable on operating your server. They provide both Windows and
Linux solutions too. Your CPU usage and bandwidth usage won't be a
problem since you're on your own server.

I hope this helps,
Matt Kaufman

i-rater is the worst script to use if you're worrying about CPU usage.
i-rater is not coder properly for a high traffic site. it's basically
a nice front with crappy coding underneath. you'll experience tons of
mysql crashing problems do the the fact that they code a open session
timer for mysql. meaning a user visits and mysql stays open for 5mins
with his/her session even if they left the site after 30secs. now that
might not see like a big deal but when you have hundreds of people
visiting at a time then, your site and server will crash. you'll be
forced to manually restart mysql.

as for the support, the don't care. it takes forever to get a response
and they'll want to charge you to fix there own errors. until they
learn how to code properly and close mysql after every connect, stay
away from i-rater.
