If the buyer has an agent but the seller does not and does not want one, how much does the buyer pay his agent? E.g., in California it is usually 1 1/12% for the buyer and the same for the seller. FSBO would incur the cost to the buyer only if agreed of only 1 1/2%. In this case the seller lower his price substanially becasue he is payint no selling commission. How much should I expect to pay my buying agent if I agreed to purchase this way and not charge it off to the seller in the price. My question is rather simple: What is the standard commission fees charged in Georgia? |

The commission fee, in any state, is what you can negotiate. There may be a fee that they tell you is "standard". That's just another way of telling you they do no what to negotiate or to put you off from negotiating. |

It actually depends on the area in which you are buying and the realestate market there. I live in the North Georgia Mountains and the realestate market has been booming up here for around 5 years. The commission for a realestate agent can vary but the typical for the purchase of a home is 7% and land is 10%. I would call around to local agency and ask them to determine. You also should consider that if there are two agents involved, they would split the commission. So if you are only looking at a buying agent, then you may only want to pay him/her half of the typical commission in that area. |

Yes, all real estate commissions are negotible! An agent may state that a set rate is 'standard' with their company, this is fine, but, if you do not like that commission rate, you can just select another company. But, keep in mind, you get what you pay for! As an example, if most sellers are offering 2.5% to 3% for a buyer's agent and you just want to offer 1% that is fine! But, as all commissions to buyer's agents are shown in MLS, most agent will just not show or mention your property.
