I have a friend having traffic accident in Egypt (14 died including
his girl friend) and was sent to Paris for treatment now. He is now
still in coma and in ICU. We are Hong Kong Chinese. We do not
understand French and only know a little bit medical terms in English.
Any organizations or associations or persons can be of assistance in
helping their family members (Chinese) in the hospital for translation
of what the doctor (French speaking) wants to say? Urgent, as my
friend has been in coma for a week.
The hospital is located at
Hopital Beaujon, 92110 Clichy (Paris, France)

patdory-ga,

Have you been in touch with the Chinese embassy/consulate in Paris?
Embassy staff are often the best source of contacts in a situation
like the one you're describing.

I beleive this is their website:

http://www.amb-chine.fr/fra/

though my knowledge of non-English languages is poor, so I can't be
certain I have the right site.

Best of luck, to all involved,

Thank you for your advice.
Embassy can only send a student as translator but no medical training background.
My friend is living in Hong Kong. We all want him to recover or at
least to have the "energy" to get on the plane back to Hong Kong as
soon as possible.
However, when different doctors visit the ICU, family members are
confused on different explanations on the recovery from coma from
different doctors.
Any medical trained people or doctors who speak Chinese/English can help ?

Embassy or Consulate is always the place to turn unless you have a
major credit card such as American Express which has a extensive
traveler services.
