I'm looking for a late 1950?s or early 1960?s television screenplay in
which a young man stumbles upon couples who are hiding from a law
which mandates the death of all people over the age of 30. Can anyone
come up with the title and information where I can get a copy?

Dear asiatraveler,

Are you sure that the movie dates from the late 1950s or early 1960s?
The plot elements you remember fit exactly with a science fiction
movie and a follow-up television series (both after the same novel,
from 1966), but they were made in 1976 and 1977/1978 respectively.

Is it possible that the movie you have in mind actually dates from that later time?

Regards,
Scriptor

When I heard the plot, I immediately thought of Logan's Run, which I
recall from my youth. Perhaps the screenplay I'm looking for had an
influence on Logan's Run. In any event, my godfather vividly recalls
seeing the screenplay on television in the late 1950's or very early
1960's -- just before he left home for college. He thought the title
was "Them," but I couldn't find any matching plot under that name
(just the movie about giant ants). He recalls these plot details:
the couples (some of them inter-racial) were hiding out; they were
escaping the mandatory death imposed by law; a young man encounters
them, perhaps on a beach; rather than turn them in to the authorities,
he accompanies them to their hideout, and in very moving conversations
they explain to him the meaning of life (or some such profound
thing!).

I've been agonizing over this question for quite a while, since I am
very fond of television drama from the '50s and '60s. I have
especially vivid memories of a series called "Playhouse 90." One thing
has occurred to me: it would be helpful to know in what nation this
program was seen by your godfather. I've been assuming that this was
American programming, but I just noticed that your username mentions
Asia.

I've looked thru the series list of Playhouse 90 before, but unless
i'm missing it... i don't see a show with that plot line. The show
was broadcast in America. I'm completely stumped by this question
too, so I hope you can help!

The age of 30 thing sounds like logan's run, but I think it can be
traced back to "Brave new world" by Aldious Huxley. Is this what you
are thinking of?
