In the uk, what is the aproximate relationship in running costs
between lpg and oil for domestic heating systems?

Sorry you got no answer. In the USA, the perhaps equivelent of LPG is
propane typically twice as costly as fuel oil, But the price of both
is quite sensitive to the quantity purchased/size of your tank: small
quantities being more costly per BTU.
