It is not clear from your question if your definition of toys includes
traditional toys as well as PC Games and Video Games sales. Assuming
you are interested in traditional toy sales in the US, there are three
sources of data: The NPD Group (http://www.npd.com/), Toy Industry
Association (http://www.toy-tia.org/) and International Council of Toy
Industries (http://www.toy-icti.org/). Both Toy Industry Association
and International Council of Toy Industries rely heavily on the NPD
Group for data. I have compiled historical sales of traditional toys
from NPD and TIA. Data and sources are given below:

2004: US$20.1 billion
2003: US$20.7 billion
2002: US$20.3 billion*
2001: US$20.5 billion
2000: US$20.4 billion
1999: US$19.8 billion

*According to TIA, annual traditional toy sales were about US$21.3
billion in 2002 (http://www.toy-tia.org/Content/NavigationMenu/Press_Room/Statistics3/State_of_the_Industry/State_of_the_Industry.htm).
A chart on ICTI (http://www.toy-icti.org/resources/wtf&f_2003/7.htm)
suggests TIA figures may be right.

I could not find 2005 data either. Email press contacts of Toy
Industry Association (Diane Cardinale or Adrienne Citrin 212-675-1141
exts. 216, 235
dianec@toy-tia.org; acitrin@toy-tia.org) to know when TIA will publish
sales statistics for 2005.
