I am looking for an obit for Hieronymus N. Wilhelm, born 1810; died 22
August 1869, New York City, NY; buried Green-Wood Cemetery. I believe
he was a doctor of some kind.

Do you mean Hieronymus Napoleon Wilhelm, born in Göttingen (Hannover,
Germany) on 31 May 1810, who married Sophie Spangenberg in Göttingen
on 19 May 1840 and who arrived in New York on the ship "Elisabeth" on
11 August 1840?

I managed to find some information on Hieronymus N. Wilhelm, although
I could not locate an obituary. Would you also be interested in other
information, and if so, what do you already know?

I pretty much have him all the way through the census and the
information on rootsweb was pretty much all what I have developed.
What I am trying to find is a source that might tell me who his
parents were. I do know his mother (first name unknown) Wilhelm died
at 31 Essex St, NYC on 4 May 1852 and was buried 6 May (don't know
where). If you can find an obit on her instead that would also work.

Dear neetz,

This is not an answer, just something you might find useful. I have
found this Research Report on the Wilhelm & Spangenberg Families (PDF
document):
http://www.lineages.com/mm/PDF/GermanImmigantGenerationReport.pdf

In found this information particularly interesting:
"Earlier generations of the WILHELM and SPANGENBERG lines can be
traced in records available at the Evangelische Lutheran archives for
Göttingen, Hanover."

That means, to be precise, the archive of the Lutheran Established
Church of Hannover (Evangelisch-Lutherische Landeskirche Hannover),
respectively the Chruch Book Office (Kirchenbuchamt) of Göttingen
where Hieronymus N. Wilhelm was born. You may want to contact them to
request information:

The RootsWeb entry for Hieronymus N. Wilhelm implies that his father
was a government official in Goslar. The town of Goslar is under the
responsibility of Lutheran Established Church of Brunswick
(Landeskirche Braunschweig) today. You may also want to contact their
archive:

I hope that this is useful for you!
