I am an American college student who is graduating this May and would
like to work in a private school. I don't have an education degree or
teaching certification, but I do have extensive experience with
working with children ages K-8. While I'm having success in finding
entry level jobs in American private schools, I really want to move to
Vancouver, British Columbia to live with my partner.

I am looking for resources on how to apply for these types of entry
level jobs in private schools in Vancouver -- anything from schools
with open positions, to job banks, to consulting companies that place
candidates, to tips on how to do this job search process better. I've
found quite a few sites, they just have no relevant content or job
openings on them. Can you do any better?!?

I have done the same thing you are considering, I went to Miami,
Florida, San Jose, Costa Rica and Managua, Nicaragua. I was able to
get teaching positions in all three places. I did have some experience
and teacher training that made getting a job easier. I found the best
way to find a job was either to get a list of schools where I was
going and write letters to the school directors or just go to the
place I was going and knocked on doors. You have to be an adventurous
type. Anoter point you need to consider is what kind, or style, of
schools they have in Canada. Not all schools are the same!

Most importantly for your own sanity remember, while it is possible to
get a job teaching without formal or even informal training, you will
probably wish to God that you had gotten some experience when you face
a tough class on a tough day!
