What kind of steps are you considering in improving your bike's speed?
Are you counting engine modification?

Loose weight. If there is less weight then it will have better
acceleration. So are there parts of the bike that can be removed and
still maintain safety considerations? You could consider a tuneup,
usually they are fairly inexpensive and may help. Clean or replace
the air filter.

Change the gears, front sprocket and rear sprocket. You need to decide
what you want. If you want more acceleration, but are willing to lose
a little top speed, you can either make the rear sprocket smaller or
the front sprocket bigger. If you want more top speed and are willing
to lose acceleration, make the back sprocket bigger and the front
sprocket smaller. I would not suggest major changes to the sizes, or
else you will lose top speed or acceleration, accordingly. Hope this
helps- Keith
