Are you certain of the file name? Could it be fxscfgwz.dll?

First, let me explain I am trying to install Windows PC Fax that comes
with the Windows XPPro program. When the installation wizard gets
about half way done it stops and asks for a path to fxscfgwz.dll,
suggesting the first part of the path as D:\i386. There is a file on
the disc named FXSCFGWZ.DL at that location. Note the difference in
the EXTENSION NAME. I have downloaded a file from the internet with
the EXACT NAME of the required file and typed in a path to the
location of that file, but the installation wizard hangs up and
doesn't seem to recognize the file name. It appears a conflict in the
actual Windows Program. How to get another disc or the right
program.??? I have a laptop computer with Windows XP fax installed
that works ok. I even copied the fxscfgwz.dll from the laptop and
renamed it, but still no go.

The file you downloaded may be compressed. Have you unzipped it?

Why are you installing PC-Fax-Program if Windows XP has an in-build
fax facility!!!! Which one I have been always using (incoming and
outgoing faxes)
What you need to do is to enable it:
1)	Go to Control Panel;
2)	?Add or Remove Programs?
3)	Select third option on the left-hand side ?Add/Remove Windows Companent?
4)	Windows Components Wizard appears.
5)	Second component on my list is ?Fax Service 3,7Mb? . Tick here!!!
6)	Press ?Next? and follow instructions. When requested, please insert
Windows installation CD-ROM. If required ? restart your computer.
7)	That?s it. Now you can send faxes from ANY Windows application.
Just go to menu ?File ? Print?? in your application and change your
default printer to ?Fax?, and press Print. Afterwards you wil be asked
tel.no and other faxing details. You will receive delivery report as
well. Don?t forget to connect your modem to the telephone line!! ;-)
8)	You computer can also accept incoming faxes. You will have smth
like Fax Viewer in your Programs? where you can also amend your
settings.
9)	In this way I have saved a lot of money on Fax-Machine and
PC-Fax-Software !!!! ;-)
Good luck!
