The 1972-1973 Philadelphia 76ers set the record for futility with a
9-73 record. What was the highest scoring performance from a 76er that
season, and what was the result of this game?

On January 12, 1973 Cleveland beat Philadelphia 113 to 109.

Fred Carter scored 40 points in a losing cause. He had 16 FG and made
8 out of 12 FT.

Actually Carter scored 40 points on January 12, 1973 when Cleveland
beat the 76ers' 113 to 109.

He also scored 39 points twice during that season. Once against
Cleveland again when Cleveland AGAIN, 113 to 108 on October 25, 1972
and against Baltimore on March 17, 1973, when Baltimore won 120 to
115.

Loughery had the next highest when he scored 38 points on November 25,
1972 and Portland won that game 117 to 106.
