I'm looking for a list of Canadian companies for a project over the coming month.
              
I know that what I'm looking for exists in Europe; it's possible to
pay approximately $300 for a CD, containing a database formatted list
of 100'000's of registered businesses in a given country, with the
required information nicely formated. This is done through a
government agency I believe.
              
Here are the requirements for the list needed:
              
Database format (MySQL, Access, etc.)
Comprehensive list of companies (in the 100'000's of companies)
              
For a given company, the following information is required. *'s are a
must, the others, especially e-mail, would be very helpful.
*Business Name
*Business Type (more explanation below)
*Company Contact(s)
*Business Registration Number (Canadian Gov't business registry keeps this)
*Company Address
*Company Telephone
Fax
E-Mail
              
The business type is one of the more important things required. An
example would be, "steel manufacturing", or "camera repair shop".
Something in that format.

I know www.scottsinfo.com offers this strictly for manufacturing and
agriculture totalling 96,000 nationwide, but I'm looking for a much
larger list which includes every company registered in Canada, perhaps
directly from a government agency.

Hummer,

I contacted both Reference USA and Western Washington Library and they
do not sell to private individuals. The library would allow me to
access the database but they would not allow me to copy it.

On my own time I was able to find
http://www.accesspublications.com/bizlists.html which is exactly what
I am looking for.
