I am thinking about starting a web site that sells advertising. I
found a co. that has quoted a price of $6,500.00 to create the site in
3D.
do you think it wise to invest that kind of money on this kind of site?.
or would another kind of site have more chance of survival? I was
influenced by the million dollar home page.

You could probably get your local computer nerd to do a site that
looks good for MUCH cheaper. I've designed several sites for well
under that price range. Hosting and domain registration only costs
around $20 to get set up and the design of the page is all that's left
then. It might be better to spend less up front, see if the sites
takes off and if it does, then spend the money for a more professional
site. It all depends on how much start up capital you have though.

That is a lot of money on a web site that has no built in beginning income.
Try something maybe in the $500 range to start. Then work your way up.
Use the capital for marketing and advertising
